>>If everything could ever feel this real forever<< Foo Fighters' Everlong

tell me why
i have to waste my life on www.hotornot.com :: the fruit of the genius of some uc berkeley cats. Tell me why i'm rating people who add no new dimension to my life instead of reading my new Paulo Coelho book from the library or Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha.

But today i did a lot of good things. I hit up the gym at 6:40am (which means i was up at 6:11) and pushed myself pretty blasted hard during Devan's class. And then i sat through 111 without getting impatient or sleepy. I deserve some major points for that, for real.

And then i eeked out another 3 hours in the darkroom. I'm pretty much finished with the show. One last picture and it's gravy.

So i guess it's okay to waste a little time. sometimes.

>>There's always something more you wish he'd say<< Vertical Horizon's "Everything You Want"

a little bit o' this, a little bit o' that
My weekend was full and studious, but fun too. Let's start with Friday. After two hours of class, I had lunch with some friends at Intermezzo. And that evening, the "half studying to avoid guilt" idea was in full effect, ya'w mean?! I skimmed my physics books for this morning's midterm while chatting on AIM, did a little Bhangra with my roommate.

Saturday was a half hour of morning cardio, one german frankfurter from Top Dog, one matinee performance of signature Ailey classics by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, a half hour of post-performance dancing due to inspiration in front of Haas pavilion with housemate Audra, 5.5 hours of physics joy, homemade chicken enchiladasa thanks to Vishali. Honestly the best enchiladas i've had.

Sunday was church and 6 more hours of physics + 2 hour nap + 1.5 hours of grammy's. It was a good show.

almost drum roll
The photo show is going up in the ASUC art studio on March 1 (this weekend). would you believe? I've got to print 3 more pictures and do a little spotting. Come and see it, then take joanie out to gelato. fo sho.

>>Don't be a hard rock when you really are a gem<< Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop"

lessons learned
No buyer's remorse in sight, i'm still happy I dropped my loot on an MD. Doing so actually helped me to understand that although some purchases are not practical, they are still somehow necessary.

I was able to put it to good use in the darkroom today. It was definitely nice to have music around for a couple hours in the dark while waiting for photo paper to finish sitting in chemicals. I had to keep myself from busting out some moves when it got to the Justin Timberlake group on my disk. go figure.

Yes Devan
This morning i was up at 6:02am to go to the RSF to lift before my cycling class at 8:00am taught by (tall gay) Devan. Why so early? I have to reserve a bike by 7:00am or else there aren't any left. Anyway, so class was super hard today. It was difficult to answer our cycling instructor's questions like "Are ya'll working hard?" to which we replied in heaving chorus "Yes Devan".

We did endurance work and I was pretty close to feeling like passing out. It took a lot longer than usual for me to recover. On top of that, the girl on the bike next to me had been road biking for a year (i talked to her last class), so in my head I was competing with her throughout the class, trying to match or exceed her cadence. I think she beat me, but i got a great workout from it.

>>I got plans tonight, and you, you know what i like<< Justin Timberlake's Right for Me

uy vey
In the spirit of a true consumer, I gave in and bought a Sony Sport MD player. A device i've been jockin' for the past 3 years.

Finally gave in. So much for being the neo-hippy who only buys stuff that promotes personal and spiritual growth. I just want to listen to Justin Timberlake when i'm lifting weights.

>>How do you do when you make me feel the way i do?<< Incubus' Stellar

again again
Saturday was crazy mad athleticism day. In the morning I attended a skills clinic with the cycling team. I learned cornering, sprinting, and paceline techniques. (you learned what?). Cornering is the term used to refer to rounding corners in a race. In order to avoid sliding out and ripping that expensive spandex suit, Grasshopper, one must know how to distribute weight to outside leg and inside arm.

Pacelining is when there's a single file of bikers and they take turns moving from the front to the back of the line in order to use the "draft" efficiently. Basically, take turns passing the head wind around, cuz that shit gets tiring if you're in the front all the time. shoot.

Sprinting was dope. It's kind of awkward, but it got comfortable after a while. Get this, we were able to get an Olympic athlete on the US female cycling team to show us how to sprint. The only person who could have upstaged her would be, umm, Jesus. Jesus on a bike. he'd be fast.

and then
Nico and Bern diggy picked me up to go a hiking in the Berkeley hills. By the way, after the skills clinic, we had to climb a bunch of hills on our bikes before we got to go to lunch. My legs were shot to death and then i went on a 2 hour hike. It was good times. Highlights? Quoting the Princess Bride and Dirty Dancing. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!!". Thank you thank you Mr. Swayze.

and then
I called my housemate Dustin because i wanted company for dinner. We couldn't decide, but finally picked a dive bar that served pizza and hamburgers and fantastic chili. But i didn't have the chili. I wanted a sausage and mushroom, but dustin doesn't like mushrooms, pizza. We I wanted to go cheap so that i could buy a good dessert too. Dustin suggested Ghirardelli ice cream in SF. I was so very down.

Dustin drives a convertible, so we were bumpin' Dre, put the heater on full blast and took the top down. I've never been in a convertible. on a clear night. across the bay bridge. through north beach. in full view of Orion's belt, scorpio, the dippers, and cassiopeia.

I do believe that there's nothing in the world like learning and doing new things.

okay already
I had a fantastic weekend. Highlights? Bonding milestone with roommate Vishali in san francisco and in berkeley over homework, the Embarcadero, La Burrita, Mondo Gelato, Miles and Coltrane. And i even finished homework early.

Gung hey fat choi
I got a random email from my old roommate. She tells me she's going to be on the Likha Chinese New Year float because her friend is friends with a likha dancer (Arnell?) I don't know him/her. Man, i'm really getting out of the Likha loop.

I choo choo choose you!
Last night Joe Millionaire was successful once again at providing an hour's worth of entertainment for Audra and I. Melissa got the boot. We cheered and rejoiced. And who said there was no justice in this world.
